


FILMMAKER BIOGRAPHY
Maeyen Bassey is a multi Emmy Award Nominated filmmaker who amplifies critical stories that uplift, inspire, and have powerful historical significance. Having crafted a multi-award winning career in short form and branded content, Bassey is also a long form filmmaker which began when she was invited to create a documentary chronicling the history of Black students on the campus of Stanford University. She also collaborated with the Academy Award winning company Dirty Robber on the Emmy-nominated Why We Fight, an ESPN+ documentary series, exploring the intimately personal stories driving world-class athletes to pursue combat sports.
Recently, Maeyen has Directed, Series Produced & EP’d long form documentary works for Lebron James’ UNINTERRUPTED, BBC Films, BBC Studios, MasterClass.com, and Amazon Prime Video. Notably, she Directed a cable series episode of A Life In Ten Pictures which uniquely shared untold layers of the life and death of the iconic rapper Tupac Shakur. In Bassey’s most current work she has teamed up with 2022 Academy Award Nominee Matt Ogens to direct a half hour branded sports documentary that is sponsored by Nissan and that will be distributed and released by ESPN+ in 2023. Bassey also has recently been hired to Showrun and Direct a 6 part branded series for WalMart produced by Ebony Studios, and hosted by ABC’s/Black-ish star Marsai Martin.
